I am pleased to announce that Cool Friend had her first foal on Grand National day.
She has had a lovely Colt by Sulamani, the same sire as this year’s Grand National winner,Rule the World, so it was quite apt that he was born on same day as his half-brother who won the Naional !
She has had a very good looking colt that seems to have plenty of size to him at this stage and everything has gone to plan to date (see picture above of foal and mother).
Cool Friend was a top class race mare, reaching an official rating of 125, as well as giving me one of the best days in my riding/training career when she just got pipped on the line in the Aintree Foxhunters. She gave me some ride over the big fences!!
She is still owned by Pip Harney, Steve Evason and I.We will continue to own her and her offspring.
It was nice to use a stallion based at Yorton Farm as the stable has close links with the owner David Futter who owns a horse here at Stockton Hall.
We are looking forward to her being covered again soon and we are going to send her to Yortons new stallion, ‘Pethers Moon’, who was a high class racehorse, winning races such as the Coronation Cup at Epsom on Derby Day. It will be his first year of covering mares and looks to have a big stallion career ahead of him.
