The 2015/2016 Point to Point season will soon be with us and here at Stockton Hall things are starting to take shape. All the youngsters which were broken in this summer have now been in for just over a month. In this time they have done plenty of roadwork before moving on to the gallops where they are now cantering. They all seem to have benefited for their short breaks and seemed to have switched on a lot during this time. The Milan 3 Year old Gelding went on a fun ride a week last Sunday and seemed to excel out of going somewhere different and jumped superbly.
This is the Milan 3 Year old whilst on the fun ride.
On Sunday 4th October I took the 3 Year old by Indian Danehill to a Fun Ride and he seemed to love it also and again jumped superbly. I find that these rides help the young horses massively in their development and can make a big difference to them as they are cantering and jumping in open spaces. They have to really think about what they are doing and this seems to bring them on a lot mentally.
This shows just how well he does jump!
Our Crusade and Desert Sting have now been on the walker for 4 weeks. They will now have a week of trotting before moving on to the gallops the following week. These two are likely to be two of our first runners of the season, hopefully at Chaddesley Corbett on the 28th December. The rest of the older horses have been on the walker for 2 weeks. They will all be aiming to run around middle/early January.
We seem to have a very good bunch of horses for the new season, from high class open horses to form maidens, as well as plenty of unraced youngstock which can hopefully progress through the point to point circuit to a career under rules.
The fixtures for the upcoming point to point season have been released and can be viewed here.
